While there are no specific floor marking requirements, the following table
is a popular colour guide used in many facilities.
 
 ......................................................................... YELLOW When used for safety purposes, indicates caution. For organisational
.......................................................................... RED For safety purposes, used as a hazard indicator e.g. fire extinguishers. For
organisational purposes, used to define boundaries of a defect product area.
.......................................................................... GREEN For safety purposes, can be used to demarcate emergency safety equipment floor
markings such as first aid, emergency showers / eye wash stations.
.......................................................................... BLUE Kanban - Material In-bound
.......................................................................... WHITE Kanban - Material Out-bound
.......................................................................... ORANGE For safety purposes, used to indicate a level of caution more serious than yellow.
For organisational purposes, used to define material or goods held for inspection.
.......................................................................... BLACK Can be used for various organisational purposes, such as indicating raw materials or
finished goods.
........................................................................... YELLOW/BLACK HAZARD When used for safety purposes, indicates caution. For organisational purposes,
used for pedestrian paths, traffics areas, work areas and storage.
........................................................................... RED/WHITE HAZARD Often used for general purposes, such as outline around equipment or storage
racks.
........................................................................... BLACK/WHITE HAZARD Often used to indicate area that must be kept clear for safety reasons. E.g. exit
point, electrical panel, or hazardous equipment.
